One Year, Final Mixes, The Journey Ahead
It will be almost exactly a year next week since I signed with Prudential Music Group out of Detroit, Michigan. They almost immediately put me back in the studio with Karl Anderson at Anchour Studio here in Maine to continue working on new songs. I'm happy to say, after many (so many) hours at the piano, notebook, microphone and speakers... I just got back a final mix from the studio today. It's for a song of our's called "Light Up This Town".
The production of a song is a process I'll never get tired of. Walking into the studio with chords, lyrics and a melody can quickly turn to chaos. As it should! You drive down a thousand different roads to realize which one the tune should really take. It's tedious, always "zooming out" to see the bigger picture and to keep every aspect in mind as you lay down even the smallest part.
Jason Hartless (Ted Nugent, Joe Lynn Turner, Mitch Ryder) laid down the drums for this EP. They were recorded at world-renowned recording studio Pearl Sound in Michigan. Legendary bassist Greg Smith (Billy Joel, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent) rounded out these tunes, laying down incredibly tasteful and precise ideas.
I can only watch and listen as producer Karl Anderson stitches all the pieces together of this EP behind the mixing board. Finding a producer and engineer as talented as Karl was well... a miracle... especially here in Maine.
Having so many brilliant ears tuned to every beat of these songs has allowed them to evolve into something a year ago, I could have only dreamed of. And I've only got gotten back one mix!
A release date for this EP is right around the corner and I can't wait to share it with you all. Until then, thank you for your continued support on this amazing journey!
